After consulting with the Adams County Health Department, we received word that the best possible way to invite people to come to Mass this weekend is to have Mass OUTSIDE at St. Dominic’s at 4pm on Sunday evening! Social distancing norms will be in place and face coverings are recommended. Please bring a blanket or lawn chairs. The altar will be set up at the north door under the canopy, and seating will be across the driveway in the north field. There will be no parking along the east-west drive in front of the north door. All are invited to attend– school families, parishioners, and visitors alike. Indeed, we encourage those who would normally attend at church at one of our normal times to consider attending at St. Dominic’s due to the enhanced safety to health which is provided by being distanced and outdoors. No reservations are required. There will be a ‘blessing of backpacks’ at Mass and children will be organized after Mass to take their backpacks to their classrooms after Mass. Of course, we are looking forward to the first day of school on Monday, August 17.
We are proud to announce that we sold the 1,200 ticket minimum and thus will give away the full prize pool for the 2020 St. Dominic Junefest Big Prize Raffle! One winner will walk away with a grand prize of $25,000, another with $10,000, and a third with $5,000 (all of these amounts are gross amounts before taxes). Forty-seven additional prizes, bringing the entire prize pool to just over $50,000 will be awarded. According to the raffle rules and the necessity to validate tickets, sales for the raffle closed on Thursday and we regret that we are unable to offer any more tickets for sale. We wish to thank our sponsors of the Raffle and the Junefest: Duker and Haugh Funeral Home, First Bankers Trust, Quincy Dental Center, Jansen Electric Co., State Street Bank, The St. Dominic PTO, Haubrich Enterprises, Quincy Lube & Oil, United Community Bank, Custom Glass and Glazing, the Knights of Columbus, Leefers Landscape and Nursery, Poage Automotive, Hinkamper Service Co., Rinella Company, Brown Electric, Country Financial, O’Donnell’s Termite and Pest Control, Frese Nursery, Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, Reichert Trucking, Brinkman Plumbing, Grawe Insurance Agency, and Heartland Financial Advisors.
We will also have the St. Anthony Picnic raffle drawing on Sunday evening as well.
Inclement weather plan: Right now the forecast is for clear skies and a temperature near 80 degrees. You are welcome to bring and consume drinking water to prevent dehydration, otherwise observing the Communion fast. In the event of an unexpected, isolated pop-up shower, we will delay the beginning of Mass only as long as necessary for the skies to clear.
