The Mass times for Quincy-area parishes are listed below. Because Christmas falls on a Saturday this year, some churches are running with modified Sunday Mass schedules (most not having a Saturday evening Mass). Officially there are two obligations for Catholics on Christmas Weekend… one for Christmas itself (eve of December 24 through all of December 25) and Sunday, the Feast of the Holy Family (evening December 25 through all of December 26). There are two parishes (St. Brigid, Liberty and Holy Family, Hannibal) listing Saturday (Christmas) night Masses. Technically, this Mass could ‘count’ either for Christmas or for Sunday (but not both), although the Mass formulas are for Holy Family.
The following weekend, the Obligation for January 1 in Honor of Mary as Mother of God is abrogated/lifted. Many parishes are offering Mass, as this is a feast day that people faithfully observe, not only in honor of the Mary, but also in prayer to God for graces during the New Year. All Masses for the Jan 1 Solemnity will be on Friday evening or Saturday Morning. The Mass schedules at all churches is the normal Sunday schedule (including Saturday nights) for the weekend of January 1/2.
There are no vigil Masses at St. Rose, the Latin Mass Church, and Blessed Sacrament Church in Quincy does not have regular vigil (Sat pm) Masses on the weekend. Note that St. Anthony and Blessed Sacrament in Quincy are the only two parishes with Masses on Sunday Evening, December 26 for the weekend Mass of the Holy Family.
