Gertrude L. “Trudy” Stupavsky, age 86, of Quincy, died on Friday, December 17, 2021 at 11:46 a.m. in Good Samaritan Home.
Trudy was born June 5, 1935 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Richard and Anna Whelan Newberry. She married Raymond A. Stupavsky on June 22, 1957 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on September 23, 2020.
Trudy was an active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. Trudy was a president of the Ladies’ Society and a member of the Prayers Council. Trudy also loved decorating the church, and she was a recipient of the Women of Distinction Award in June of 2014. Most of all, Trudy cherished the time that she spent with her family, especially with her grandchildren.
Trudy is survived by ten children: Jane (Dan) Howard of Springfield, IL; Anthony (Heidi) Stupavsky of Roaring Springs, TX; Sara (Dan) Terstriep of Liberty, IL; Thomas (Cindy) Stupavsky, Ann (Jeff) Wilson, Mary (Chuck) Edwards, Andrew (Kim) Stupavsky, all of Quincy; Michelle (Rob) Stull of Fowler, IL; Dan Stupavsky; and Chad Stupavsky, both of Quincy; 22 grandchildren: Lexi (Raymond) Moore, of Pittsfield, IL; Chance Howard of Springfield, IL, Kacey (Brock) Kindernay of Chillicothe, IL, and Colton Howard of Springfield, IL; Ben Stupavsky of Roaring Springs, TX; Kyle (Heather) Terstriep of Liberty, IL and Brian Terstriep of Hannibal, MO; Allison (Austin) Menz, Adam, Emily, and Michael Stupavsky; Bo (Kelsey), Shawn, Michelle, and Jennifer Wilson; and Lauren, Sydney, Kylie, Andrea, and Joshua Stupavsky, all of Quincy; Noah Stull of O’Fallon, IL, and Tyler (Amanda) Dell of Clinton, IA; 24 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; a sister, Mary Bradley of Quincy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Trudy was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Bonnie Kealen and Betty Bergman; a brother, Richard “Jr.” Newberry; and two brothers-in-law: Robert Bergman and Jim Bradley.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, with Fr. Tom Donovan officiating.
Burial: St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois
Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church
